Tips on Surviving Social Distancing

Tips on Surviving Social Distancing

Isolation and Quarantine wreck havoc not only on our social lives, but also on our physical and mental health. The CDC still recommends staying indoors to not be infected with the coronavirus or be a carry of the virus to another individual. While maintaining these rules by the professionals (Which we all are following to get this all over with sooner!) Here are some tips we consolidated into one article to help while you are inside and practicing safe Social Distancing!

Have a Schedule

With offices closed and schools shut our daily routines are out of whack. This can lead to feelings of anxiousness and feeling stir crazy. To help combat this do your same morning routine, still get showered and dressed as if you were attending school or work.

If doing school work, develop a schedule of 2 hours of work that incorporates routine and rewards with a snack or an episode of TV.

Get Outdoors

The outdoors have so many positive benefits to our moods and physical health. Keeping the CDC recommendation in mind of staying 6 feet apart from others, attending to community parks, or a walk around the block are extremely beneficial to get us still moving, improve concentration and mood. And a little Vitamin D is good too!

Prepare Meals and Eat Together

It is so easy to snack all day, but preparing meals gives you something to keep you busy for a few hours, and then coming together to eat is a to help get the necessary time of socializing in that we may be lacking.

Keep up with Regular Activities

If you were a student athlete and have a desire to get ready for practice everyday around 3pm, then get changed into athletic wear and do a workout in your living room! If you used to get up for school and have breakfast then keep that going. Keep up with your regular activities or schedule can help you feel accomplished even if you are only adding small tasks onto your to-do lists. This will also help when it comes to readjusting back to normal life after this quarantine is over. Remember this too shall past!

Take this time to do stuff you wish you had time for!

Wanted to paint your room? Wanted to start that series? Wanted to create that perfect playlist for working out? Wanted to organize that sock drawer to make life just a bit easier? Now you have the time, do what you want with it!

Take Time to Connect with Friends and Family

Video chat, Facetime, Zooms, Google Hangout, Livestreams, Snapchat video call- the options are endless and with technology in the palm of your hand the options to connect with friends are limitless. Checking in with friends, especially extroverted friends, is a great way to lift your spirits and theirs. Do a hobby together while over the phone!
